“Life is available only in the present moment.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Zen Coaching in theory:
Zen Coaching is a coaching technique with the overriding goal to assist individuals in coming home to their true nature, to grow as human beings and to live and act from that recognition.
It combines the focus on reaching outer goals – a key characteristic of traditional coaching – with a deeper inner focus on becoming fully who we are; genuine, authentic and sincere with ourselves and others.
The principles of Zen Coaching draw from some of the greatest minds in the fields of psychology, spirituality and personal development; Marshal B. Rosenberg, Thich Nhat Hanh, A. H. Almaas and Candice O´ Denver, to name a few.
The main purpose is to support ourselves and others in recognizing our own nature as awareness and its essential qualities – freedom, love, strength, creativity and spaciousness, among others. Through this recognition we become less identified with mental positions and negative judgments, and more free to live in strength, peace and positive contribution to ourselves and the world.
Zen Coaching in practice:
Using basic mindfulness principles, explorative inquiry and supportive listening you will learn to free yourself from limiting beliefs and to channel your inner resources in a heart-centred and highly effective way.
By increasing your awareness and pinpointing your vocation and dreams, you will be able to develop the self mastery needed to excel in any chosen area of your life.
The Coach is not an ‘expert’. She or he is someone who offers the innocent curiosity of a beginner´s mind to the experience of every moment, and looks at and points at the strength and wisdom of the client.
As you learn to access the Zen Coaching techniques and principles in daily life, any dependency on external sources of support is subsequently reduced. The essence of Zen Coaching is to liberate us from external refuges and resources, and to find the answers and powers within ourselves.
